Why won’t my Kenmore sewing machine go in reverse?

You need to open the panel for the light and check inside. Normally there is pieces of thread that are wrapped around the levels or stuck inside the machine. Take a pair of tweezers and remove all these pieces of thread and try again. This should fix your problem.

Why is my sewing machine not reversing?

When you start to sew, your machine creates a lockstitch at the beginning of your seam, and when you stop sewing, it creates another lockstitch. You won’t be able to sew in reverse if you’ve selected the automatic lockstitch option. Select a regular stitch and this should fix the problem.

Where is the reverse button on my Kenmore sewing machine?

On your electronic sewing machine it will be located just above the needle area. It will have what looks like a U turn icon.

Do you have to reverse stitch?

Backstitching is a must anytime a seam will not have another seam intersecting it at a later time. When quilting, I will often backstitch when sewing on the final two borders. This will hold the final seam secure until the quilt is quilted.
