I’ve had a busy week finishing off my Christmas range, and pitching it out, working on a set of new drawings featuring man’s best friend (big clue!) and so I was ready for a bit of a rest, come the weekend!
This afternoon we took a trip over to Buxton, a pretty spa town in Derbyshire, described as ‘the gateway to the Peak District’. It only takes us about half an hour in the car to reach it, so we arrived with just enough time to browse the book fair taking place in the Pavilion Gardens, before taking a stroll through the town and looking at some of the local antique and vintage shops.
Parts of Buxton look as though they have been plucked straight from the pages of a Jane Austen novel, particularly the crescent of tall white houses, which was modelled on Bath’s own famous Royal Crescent. After our walk we stopped off at No. 6 The Square tearooms for a pot of tea and a slice of lemon cake. It was all rather lovely.
What did you get up to this weekend?
